Construction

You can take my factories, burn up my buildings, but give me my people and I'll build the business right back again.

- Henry Ford

Lee County is among the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the nation. The US Census Bureau reported that the area grew 24.5% in population from 2010 to 2018. With growth like this, it’s perhaps no surprise that one of Lee County’s most active sectors is construction.

Construction Sector by the Numbers

In 2018, the construction industry was the County’s third largest economic sector, behind only retail and healthcare. Construction accounted for nearly 13% of Southwest Florida’s economy, and employed close to 45,000 people, mostly employed in small businesses. Lee County’s list of permitted building contractors is more than 300 pages long.

Construction Associations:

In part due to the continued efforts of associations such as Building Industry Association and Cape Coral Construction Industry Association Lee county continues to experience growth in the construction sector creating economic and professional opportunities throughout Lee county. Additionally this incredible growth has led to the success and expansion of programs such as Builders Care, the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association (Lee BIA).
